Machinery Solutions Group – Year-End Update & Industry Outlook

December 1, 2025

As 2025 winds down, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a year of activity, change, and forward momentum across the printing, packaging, and converting industries. From major plant clear-outs to motion-control upgrades and press relocations, Machinery Solutions Group continued to support customers through a wide range of equipment and project needs across North America and internationally.

Strong Global Demand for Used Equipment

This year saw continued demand for quality used machinery—particularly in commercial web offset, flexible packaging, digital production, bindery, and finishing systems. With OEM lead times stretching in several categories, many printers and converters turned to the secondary market to expand capacity, replace aging lines, or adapt to new production demands.

We supported customers with equipment evaluations, sourcing, inspections, and turnkey relocation and removal services throughout the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and Australia.

Plant Clear-Outs & Facility Consolidations

2025 included several full facility closures and consolidations. Our team handled everything from cataloging and marketing to removal planning, rigging coordination, and broom-swept handoff. We also managed multi-line clear-outs that included web offset presses, mailroom systems, bindery lines, packaging equipment, and supporting plant infrastructure.

These projects continue to be a core part of our business, and we expect similar activity into 2026 as companies review footprints, streamline operations, or modernize equipment.

Growth in Controls & Automation Upgrades

A major highlight this year was the increased demand for Siemens-based PLC, drive, and HMI upgrades. With many OEM systems now at or beyond end-of-life, customers are prioritizing reliability, diagnostics, and long-term supportability.

Our engineering team completed upgrades on:

  • Web offset press lines
  • Bindery and finishing equipment
  • Packaging and converting systems
  • Auxiliary pressroom components

These modernization projects will continue to expand in 2026 as plants look for improved uptime and cost-effective alternatives to full equipment replacement.

Expanded Focus on Packaging & Converting

Flexible packaging, narrow web flexo, and converting equipment remain strong growth areas. Many customers upgraded or expanded die cutting, folder-gluer, laminating, and slitting systems. Our team also saw increased interest in digital embellishment and finishing solutions from brands exploring short-run and value-added applications.

Looking Ahead to 2026

We anticipate steady activity in:

  • Used machinery sales
  • Packaging and converting equipment
  • Plant liquidations and asset recovery
  • Automation and control upgrades
  • International sourcing and cross-border projects

As always, our goal is to provide straightforward guidance, reliable solutions, and hands-on support—whether you’re buying equipment, selling surplus assets, or planning a facility project.
