We recently completed a comprehensive motion controls upgrade for a Universal Binder with Kolbus Trimmer at Nahan Printing. The project covered the binder, gatherer, and trimmer—modernizing key systems to improve reliability, diagnostics, and efficiency.

Scope of Work

🔹 Control Upgrades – PLCs upgraded from S7-400 to S7-1500, with GE PLCs replaced by S7-1200s and integrated into the main PLC.

🔹 Drive Upgrades – Siemens Masterdrives replaced with Sinamics drives for improved performance and supportability.

🔹 I/O Replacement – Beckhoff I/O replaced throughout the line, including hopper sections.

🔹 Operator Enhancements – New HMIs, diagnostic displays, and large-screen TVs used as marquees for real-time status.

🔹 Stack Light Upgrade – Hopper stack lights expanded from 2 to 4, enabling operators to monitor product selection, efficiency, and track bad product downstream.

This upgrade delivers a modernized, serviceable, and more efficient system, extending the lifecycle of critical equipment while providing operators with improved visibility and controls.
